An opportunity to visit Nicosia, the island's capital, the only divided capital in the world. Passing by the newly restored Famagusta Gate, we stop at the Archbishopric and the Cathedral of St. John, housing some outstanding frescoes. A short drive, past Liberty Monument and the Venetian Walls surrounding the old part of town, brings us to the Cyprus Archaelogical Museum. Here you will be shown round the priceless collection of Cypriot antiquities and art treasures.
Alternatively, you may wish to discover the city's excellent shopping center. Lunch will be taken at Laiki Yitonia, a 19TH century quarter lovingly restored to its former glory with houses, shops and taverns lining the cobbled streets. Driving out along the Green Line which divides city into two, we will then continue on to the picturesque village of Lefkara, Famous for it's silverware and intricate handmade lace, known as "Lefcaritika".
