Since ancient times, the Greek gave great importance to Athletics. The tradition did not die. Well-equipped Gymnasiums and Stadiums are built in various parts of the island. The most popular sports include track and field, handball, swimming, basketball, sailing, volley - ball.
If you are a badminton enthusiast visiting Cyprus, it does not necessary mean you will be kept away from your favorite sport. If you reside in Cyprus you may want to know that badminton is played throughout the Island.
Bowling has become very popular in Cyprus, mostly among youngsters. There are several Bowling Centers spread in the towns, all of them very well equipped. The Cyprus Bowling Association organizes competitions very often.
The mild weather in autumn, winter and spring makes Cyprus ideal for the cross-country and mountains biking enthusiast. The cycling routes range from 48 km to 168 km and cover both the plains and mountain routes through picturesque landscapes and villages.
Football pitches with grass, together with the ideal weather conditions throughout the year have made Cyprus the ideal venue for winter training. Dozens of amateur and professional football teams from all over Europe have use these facilities every year. During their stay, friendly games with local teams have been organized. Accommodation in selected hotels near or nearby to a football pitch, with all facilities that include Gym center, sauna, steam bath, indoor swimming pool, massage room, tennis courts, etc. Theese can be used for fitness training program.
If you are a golfer, you may want to consider a few rounds of golf on the picturesque landscapes of Paphos. The Tsada golf club and course is situated some 500 meters above sea level on the hills overlooking Paphos town and the coastline. This 18-hole golf course is comprised of two sectors, each of nine holes. Designed by Donald Steel, it offers a challenge to all handicapped golfers. In addition, there is a magnificent club house which apart from a bar also includes a swimming pool, sauna, restaurant and a snooker room. What a perfect venue to relax and enjoy a real challenging round of golf has the Secret Valley Golf Club. Situated 18 km east of Paphos and 48 km west of Limassol, near Petra tou Romiou - birthplace of Aphrodite. It is a par 72, course with a distance of 6,300m and is considered to be challehging course.
The crystal waters of the Mediterranean Sea the warm temperature of the water (15-27 centigrade) as well as the magnificent submarine world, make diving very tempting. Diving centers, in cooperation with us, may provide you with all the necessary equipment, including boat and car.

Although Cyprus is known for its beaches and sunny weather, skiing can be enjoyed from January to March on the Troodos Mountains. The Cyprus Ski Club owns four ski lifts and organizes several contests. They also provide professional instructors for beginners as well as the necessary ski equipment.
Yet another activity extremely well suited to this island. It does not take long even for a newcomer to discover that walking or hiking is the best way to discover this island. Cyprus, having such a variety in topology can offer a route to suite anyone's tastes within an hours drive at the very most. While you are walking, look out for birds, wild flowers, herbs, geological formations, subjects so rich in Cyprus that many people come specially to study them. Needles to say a camera and pair of binoculars are a must on any outing along with some refreshments.
The Cyprus Tennis Federation, as well as other associations, organizes important competitions and tournaments. Tennis courts are scattered all over the island and can be found in private clubs, hotels and furnished apartments.
Can be enjoyed in several spots on the sea - side or at dams. Fishing shelters are found at Zyghi, Protaras, Ayia Napa, Liopetri, Polis, Pegia, Pomos and Larnaca. Net fishing (nets, boat, etc.) can be provided to the interested client. Also, for the more audacious fishermen, fishing expeditions of a week on high sea can be organized.
The World Rally Championship will take place from 18th to 21st April 2002. April is considered late spring in Cyprus and the island is covered with wild flowers and the citrus blossom is out in abundance. Visitors to the island will certainly be able to combine an early sunny holiday with watching the rally.
